Step 1

Not "what have you done."
It's which experience can fight.

Write down everything you've ever done that got results. Don't filter. Write it all (in your own notebook):
  1. What results have you achieved with numbers, feedback, or recognition? (Any field counts)
  2. What do you do more easily than others, with better results?
  3. What do people keep praising you for? (The kind you hear so often you think "that's nothing")
Two focus points:
① Don't list titles and duties — write specific actions and numbers. Not "handled sales" but "grew regional sales from 800K to 3M in six months."
② Small things you overlook are often the most valuable. "Colleagues always come to me for PPTs" might mean your structured communication is rare. Write those down too.
Yan's perspective: AI treats every line you write as an equal-value label. But a brand strategist knows — not all experience has market value. Which of the above can become weapons that set you apart? Three tests: did it produce results, can it be replicated, can others easily do the same? If all three, that's your ammunition. Circle it.
Step 2

Not "what are your strengths."
It's what strength can no one surpass.

Take what you circled in Step 1 and look from a different angle:
  1. Your combination of experiences — is it common in the market? (e.g. "sales + content creation + AI" — far fewer people have all three than you think)
  2. The abilities you assume everyone has — search job sites and see how many people actually have them.
  3. Your "weakness" from another angle — could it be differentiation? ("Not professional enough" might mean "ordinary people can understand you")
Two focus points:
① Search each ability keyword on job sites. Look at demand volume and salary range. The market validates for you.
② Tell an outsider something you think "everyone can do." Watch their first reaction. If their eyes light up, they ask questions, they say "can you teach me" — congratulations, you found a skill you thought was ordinary but is actually rare.
Yan's perspective: AI will list your strengths in a table — neat, clean, and utterly harmless. But a brand strategist knows: strengths aren't for yourself, they're for your competitors. A positioning that truly hits is one where others read it and think: "I can't do that." Which of your strength combinations would silence a competitor? That's your anchor. Mark it.
Step 3

Not "write it beautifully."
It's one sentence you can take to battle.

Take the "anchor" you marked in Step 2. Condense it into one sentence:
  1. If you could only use one sentence to introduce yourself, it must make people know whether to come to you.
  2. Not "I'm a brand consultant." It's "I help people who ____ solve ____ problems."
  3. Does it feel natural when you say it? If it doesn't feel right, it's not real. Real positioning — when you say it, you believe it first.
Two focus points:
① Read it aloud and record it. When you play it back, does it sound like you're talking to someone, or talking to yourself? The "I'm helping you solve a problem" tone is the right one.
② Send it to a trusted friend and ask: "After hearing this, what kind of person do you think should come to me?" If they say what you expected — correct. If not — your positioning needs one more layer of translation.
Yan's perspective: AI will polish your sentence — make it smoother, more professional, more "proper." But a brand strategist knows: a sentence that can fight isn't pretty, it's usable. It must directly become your first content title, your social bio, your opening line when meeting clients. Try it: read your sentence aloud. If you'd want to add yourself on WeChat after hearing it — that's it.

Step 4

The three boxes above — that's your positioning arsenal.

Write them down in your own notebook — this page no longer collects any input online.
If you'd like it reviewed personally, email [email protected].

Positioning done. Now what?

That question — let me answer it.

People have told me: "Yan, I did IP positioning on other platforms, it was accurate, but I don't know what to do next."
So here are two paths — you can walk alone, or walk faster with me. Your choice.

🆓 Path A: Walk Alone (Completely Free, Start Now)

1
Write three content titles from different angles using your positioning sentence.
One case study, one methodology, one contrarian viewpoint. Three is enough.
2
Find three reference accounts and study how they express similar positioning.
Not to copy, but to learn: What's their positioning sentence? What was their first post? What are people discussing in comments?
3
Post one piece of content. Come back in 48 hours to check the data.
Don't wait until "fully ready." Post using the sentence you just wrote. Data isn't the destination — it's a signpost telling you if you're heading the right way.

🎯 Path B: 1-on-1 Positioning with Yan (¥600, ~1 Hour Total)
